Messaging

There are two tools in Blackboard that allow messages to be sent to individual users.

Only one of the following tools should be available in your course. Your instructor should make it clear which tool will be used in your course, to avoid any confusion.

  • Send Email - Uses the email system to deliver and store messages (details on the Email page)

  • Messages - Messages are delivered and stored within each Blackboard course (details below)

To use the messaging tool look for it in the Course Menu under Tools or the Messages link.

This Blackboard tool is used to send, retrieve and store messages within a course. Messages can only be sent to other users in your course.
