Update existing content files

Update a file

Occasionally, you may wish to overwrite a file with a newer/updated version.

Notify students when a new version of a file is uploaded
  1. Select Change File from the target Topic file's context menu. This will prompt you to upload a new file.

  1. Drag and drop a file into the upload space or click Upload to browse for the file.

  1. If you would like your students to receive a notification of the updated content, check the Notify students that the content has changed button. Please note that students must have notifications turned on in their personal settings, or they will not see the notifications.

Edit an HTML file

You may wish to make changes to an existing HTML file in your course. For example, you may need to update a syllabus file from a previous semester to suit the current semester.

  1. Select Edit HTML from the target Topic file's context menu. This will prompt you to edit any files you created directly in Brightspace.

  1. Edit content.
  2. If you would like your students to receive a notification of the changed content, check the Notify students that the content has changed button. Please note that students must have notifications turned on in their personal settings, or they will not see the notifications.
  3. Click on Update to save your changes.
