Curriculum Overview
The Justice Studies program is offered on a part-time basis only and consists of three levels of study, corresponding to the second, third, and fourth years of a full-time university degree.
In Level 1, you will develop an understanding of the major concepts and theoretical perspectives underlying the justice system. You'll also learn to recognize factors in the justice field that place unique stress on the practitioner as well as practical strategies to deal with them.
Level 2 advances your skills in critical areas including interviewing, crisis management, problem-solving and research methods, and considers societal issues dealing with youth, interpersonal violence, and substance abuse, and how they relate to the legal system.
In Level 3, you examine selected topics in focused seminars, explore the philosophical, societal, and historical issues that lie at the heart of the justice system, and conduct empirical research related to your professional activities or interests.
