Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology
Justice Studies PART TIME (BA)
Program Overview
Justice Studies is a part-time, degree-completion program designed primarily for diploma graduates seeking or pursuing careers in policing, security, probation and parole, correctional services, youth justice, victim services, customs and immigration, and related fields in criminal justice. The program provides professional education that builds on the College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) diploma in Law and Security Administration, Police Foundations, Corrections, or related areas. Students acquire advanced professional, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills while developing a fuller understanding of their role within the criminal justice system, and of the community in which they work.
Students will acquire in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system, with particular emphasis on the professional and personal challenges of working within a dynamic and often controversial social system. Individuals interested in careers in policing, security, probation and parole, correctional services, youth justice, victim services, customs and immigration, and related fields will be particularly interested in this program.
