Program Reinstatement / Required to Withdraw (RTW)

 

Students who have been Required to Withdraw (RTW) prior to Winter 2011 from their Ryerson undergraduate program may not formally return to their program (or other Ryerson undergraduate program) until 12 months have elapsed. For example, if you were assigned an RTW standing at the end of the Fall 2010 semester, you may apply for reinstatement to your program (or transfer to another Ryerson program) effective the Winter 2012 semester. Please see the FAQ.

Students who have been Required to Withdraw (RTW) Winter 2011 or later may choose to participate in the Fresh Start program beginning Spring 2011, or request reinstatement (or transfer) effective the Spring/Summer 2012 semester. Please see the FAQ.

 

Request for Reinstatement Procedure

Fresh Start Program

If  you have been assigned a Required to Withdraw (RTW) academic standing and wish to participate in the Fresh Start Program after your one (1) semester suspension period, please complete the following steps:

  1. Confirm program specific criteria for Fresh Start.
  2. Confirm the dates to ensure that your application will be accepted.
  3. Complete either part A or part B:
    1.  Complete the Request for Reinstatement/Fresh Start form PDF icon and the Reinstatement – Supplementary form.  Submit the completed forms to your RTW program advisor.
      OR
    2.  Complete the Request for Fresh Start – Transfer form Adobe Acrobat.  Submit the completed form to Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment in room POD 144. If you are approved by Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment for Fresh Start Transfer consideration by the program advisor, you will be required to submit the completed Fresh Start Transfer – Supplementary Form Adobe Acrobat to the RTW program advisor.

You will be contacted by an admission advisor and/or a program advisor once your application has been reviewed. The time frame for this varies by program.

 

Reinstatement into Program

If you have been assigned a Required to Withdraw (RTW) academic standing and wish to be Reinstated into your program after your twelve (12) month suspension period, please complete the following steps:

  1. Confirm the dates to ensure that your application will be accepted.
  2. Complete the Request for Reinstatement/Fresh Start form and the Reinstatement – Supplementary form. PDF icon
  3. Submit the completed forms to your RTW program advisor.

You will be contacted by email by a program advisor once your application has been reviewed. The time frame for this varies by program.

 

If you have been Required to Withdraw (RTW) and wish to defer your Fresh Start EAP1 or EAP2 contract to the following semester, please complete this form.

Transferring to a Different Program

If you do not wish to return to your program of studies, you may wish to discuss transferring to another Ryerson program with an advisor from Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment. You may also like to make an appointment to see a counsellor in the Office of Student Development and Counselling.
