Challenge Credits
A challenge credit grants Ryerson students an academic credit for a Ryerson course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained outside the traditional post-secondary school environment e.g. through work experience. The experience gained replicates the subject matter of the course material.
Challenge Credit Conditions
- Most degree programs allow a maximum of five single-term challenge credits.
- The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education certificate programs allow a maximum of two single-term challenge credits.
- Not all courses are challengeable..
- The Ted Rogers School of Business Management does not allow Challenge Credit for courses taught by the School.
- The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, and the Faculty of Science does not allow Challenge Credit for courses taught by the Faculty.
Getting Ready to Apply
- Confirm you are eligible.
- Contact the Teaching Department of the course you wish to challenge to determine if the course may be challenged.
How to Apply
The Challenge Credit application form is available online and at Enrollment Services and Student Records (POD 64).
