Why Participate in the Course Intention Process?
Your participation in the Course Intention process assists schools and academic departments with their course planning. For example, course intention data is used, along with other information, to determine how many classes of a particular subject will run and how many seats may be allocated to those classes. Course intention data is also used to prepare your Fall and Winter timetables.
How to Select your Course Intentions:
- Login to RAMSS
- Run an Advisement Report. The report will assist you in planning your course intentions by identifying the curriculum requirements that you have satisfied and the requirements that remain outstanding. See the step by step instructions on how to run your Advisement Report.
- Select My Classes Offered from the “Enroll” link in the Student Centre to display and select the Fall and Winter courses. This function will display, by term, only the courses that are offered to your program and plan. See step by step details.
If you prefer, you may also use the normal enrollment functions of Class Search, Add, Drop and Swap to submit Course Intentions.
When selecting a multi-term course, e.g., POL47A/B or NSE11A/B, you select part A and you will automatically be enrolled in part B in the subsequent term.
The required number of Lower Level (Table A) and Upper Level (Table B) Liberal Studies courses varies by undergraduate program, and is specified in the program description provided in the Ryerson Calendar.
You are responsible for making appropriate course intention choices and should consult the description of your program published in the Calendar.
Important Note: Certain courses listed in Table A and Table B, due to their close relation to the professional fields, cannot be taken for Liberal Studies credit in some programs. Please see Table A and Table B Restrictions for more information.
More information on Liberal studies can be found at the Faculty of Arts along with the Liberal Studies Course Offerings. Consultation with a Liberal Studies academic advisor as listed in the Undergraduate Liberal Studies Guide is recommended if you have any uncertainty about the appropriateness of your liberal studies Course Intention(s).
Please note that the Search by My Classes Offered function correctly displays Liberal Studies courses applicable to your program. - Declare your plan – Necessary for students finishing their first year of:

Declaring your plan will enable you to see and indicate your Course Intentions for the plan you have chosen. Note: if you cannot see courses offered to the upper levels of your program, you probably need to declare a plan. Contact your program advisor for assistance if needed.
Please remember that you are only signalling the courses you wish to take, not actually enrolling in classes. A timetable will be prepared for you based on your selections and posted to RAMSS prior to the start of the Fall and Winter terms. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all of your choices will be met. You will have the opportunity to adjust your schedule prior to the start of classes. - Re-run your Advisement Report. Your report will now apply your Course Intentions and you will be able to see and validate the application of your Course Intentions to your curricular requirements.
If you decide not to return to Ryerson for classes, please notify the Enrollment Services and Student Fees Office, by mail, before classes start; this will avoid any tuition fee charges or negative academic standing impacts.
