Part Time Students
Eligibility
- You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person prior to the application deadline date. View dates.
- Your family's total gross family income must meet the applicable threshold that corresponds to their family size, as set out in the table income limits. View limits.
- You must be studying in an OSAP approved program.
- You must be registered in a Certificate, Undergraduate or Part Time Masters program.
- If you are registered in a Certificate Program, view list of OSAP approved certificates. If the program that you are currently registered in does not appear on the list, contact the Student Financial Assistance Office. View approved programs.
- If you are registered in an Undergraduate program your enrollment must be between 20% - 40% of a full course load in each funded term.
Satisfactory Scholastic Standard
To continue to be eligible for part-time funding a student must successfully complete all of the courses for which part-time funding was issued.
Students who have not successfully completed all course may be reinstated to receive part-time funding for subsequent study periods provided they successfully complete one semester funded through their own resources.

NOTE: If you are a student with a Permanent Disability who is enrolled in a 40% of a full course load, the student has the option of applying for either part-time funding or for OSAP for Full-Time Students.
If you are registered in a Masters Program, your official registration must be Part Time.
IMPORTANT: You are required to provide a letter from your department if you have been approved for course substitution.
HOW TO APPLY FOR OSAP PART-TIME FUNDING
A student can apply for funding for part-time studies electronically through the OSAP website.
* If you are not able to complete a web application online, you will be required to complete a paper application located on the OSAP website.
The following steps are required:
- Follow the link provided: http://osap.gov.on.ca.
- Complete and submit the web OSAP Part-Time Application.
- Print and submit the 2012-2013: Declaration and Signature Page of Applicant (and spouse's and/or common law spouse, if applicable) to the Student Financial Assistance Office.
- Once you have printed your signature papers, click on OSAP Part-Time Main bar.
- Click on "View Application Details".
- Click on "Documents You Must Provide".
- Submit any necessary supporting documentation to the Student Financial Assistance Office. See list of OSAP for Part Time Students – Supporting Documentation. View supporting documentation.
- Student Financial Assistance Office will contact the student by email once their funding is available for pick up.
How to Check the Status of your OSAP Part Time Application
- After you have submitted your signature papers and any required supporting documentation to the Student Financial Assistance office, your application will be reviewed.
- You can check the status of your application by logging onto the OSAP website: http://osap.gov.on.ca and click OSAP for Part Time Students.
- The Student Financial Assistance Office will notify you by email to your Ryerson email account once your loans and/or grant has arrived.
Pick up for Part-Time Loan and/or Grant Certificates
- Part Time OSAP funding is available for pick-up from the Student Financial Assistance Office, Room POD 59 during regular office hours. The following pieces of identification are required ... NO EXCEPTIONS!
- PROOF OF SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER (SIN card – photocopy is acceptable, or a piece of Government of Canada official documentation such as Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment, a Canada Pension Plan Statement of Contributions or a Confirmation of Social Insurance Number from Service Canada).
- VALID GOVERNMENT-ISSUED PHOTO ID - e.g. Driver's Licence, Permanent Resident Card, Canadian Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card, Ontario Photo Health Card, BYID Card, *NEW* Ontario Photo Card. Expired Photo ID's will not be accepted.
- A void cheque and/or direct deposit information from your bank.
Where to Take the Part-Time Loan Certificate
The student must take the funding certificate, along with a Canada Student Loan Agreement for Part-Time Students (loan agreement) to a designated Canada Post outlet or an on-campus NSLSC kiosk within 30 days of the date the FAO signed the certificate and before the student’s study period end (as indicated on the certificate). Failure to do so invalidates the funding certificate and no extension letters will be issued. Students are required to show their Social Insurance Number card (or any other official Government of Canada document that indicates their Social Insurance Number) and any valid photo identification issued in Canada by the federal or a provincial/territorial government.
Students who do not have access to a designated Canada Post outlet would mail their funding certificate (with photocopies of two acceptable pieces of identification, as indicated above) directly to the National Student Loans Service Centre:
