OSAP APPEALS - TOP THREE

1 - IS IT POSSIBLE TO INCREASE MY OSAP FUNDING?

OSAP has a standard way of calculating your financial need to determine how much you are entitled to receive. You may qualify for additional OSAP funding if certain personal or financial challenges exist. To review the circumstances a student may summit an appeal of their OSAP funding review the following table.

How to Appeal? Please contact the Student Financial Assistance Office for more information in regards to the kind of supporting documentation you will be required to provide.

 

2 - MY PARENT(S) WILL NOT SIGN MY OSAP APPLICATION or WILL NOT REPORT THEIR INFORMATION ON MY OSAP APPLICATION or I HAVE NO CONTACT WITH MY PARENT(S)

How to Appeal? Prepare the required documentation listed in the Read More link. Submit this appeal information to the Student Financial Assistance office. The appeal will be reviewed and a decision will be emailed to your Ryerson email.

Send an email to finaid@ryerson.ca titled Appeal Appointment to book a meeting with a Financial Assistance Advisor to discuss the appeal or the required documentation. Student must bring their Appeal information to the meeting.

 

3 - MY OSAP APPLICATION HAS BEEN DECLINED BECAUSE OF MY CREDIT RATING

Your eligibility for OSAP is affected if you:

  • file for bankruptcy under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (Canada), (BIA);
  • make a consumer proposal under the BIA that is approved or deemed to be approved by a court under that Act;
  • obtain a consolidation order under the BIA; or
  • file a document seeking relief for the orderly payment of debts
  • failed credit check details here

Important Notice

Textbook and Technology Grants for Full-Time Students

The 2008 Ontario Budget announced a Textbook and Technology Grant to help lower costs for full-time students attending universities and colleges in Ontario. The Grant is available starting Fall 2008.

Grant amount - $150 per student per year.

To be eligible for this grant, students will have to apply and qualify for OSAP assistance. Detailed information regarding this grant program is available on the OSAP website.

Important Deadlines
  • Jan 19, 2012 - Final date to apply for OSAP for the Sept-April academic year. Note: Funding assistance may be prorated based on when application is received
  • Feb 9, 2012 - Final date to submit a review for OSAP funds for the Sept-April academic year
  • Apr 11, 2012 - Last day to collect OSAP funding with an April year end
