OSAP Appeals

OSAP has a standard way of calculating your financial need to determine how much funding you are entitled to receive. You may qualify for additional OSAP funding if certain personal or financial challenges exist. To review the circumstances under which a student may submit an appeal of their OSAP funding, review the table below and follow the attached link.

NOTE: Appeals will be declined if received after the above-mentioned dates.

How to Appeal?

Review the appeal outline below and prepare the required documentation listed in the Read More link. Submit this appeal information along with the required supporting documentation (please refer to the table below), to the Student Financial Assistance office. The appeal will be reviewed and a decision will be emailed to your Ryerson email*. For further information, please contact the Student Financial Assistance Office.

Type of Appeal Description
Family Breakdown The ministry may consider your application without your parent(s) information under certain extenuating circumstances. Read more
Credit Check (Fail) A review for students who have been denied student financial assistance as a result of failing the required credit check and wish to have the decision reviewed. Read more

A Request for Review cannot be submitted if:

  • You have already been assessed maximum funding from OSAP
  • Your review is submitted after the deadline date
