30% Off Ontario Tuition Grant (OTG)
The Ontario Tuition Grant provides eligible full-time students in post-secondary education with a grant that covers up to 30% of the average university or college tuition costs.
Starting in September 2012, the grant for full-time undergraduate university students in a degree program is $840 per term and up to $1,680 per academic year.
*Students may qualify for a maximum of two Ontario Tuition Grants per academic year. If you received one in the Fall 2012 Term and one in the Winter 2013 Term, you are not eligible to receive one for summer.
Who is Eligible?
- Full-time Undergraduate students enrolled in an OSAP approved program. (Full-time = 60% course load per term or 40% course load for a student with a Permanent Disability)
- Students who have been out of high school for less than four years (or six years for a student with a Permanent Disability)
- Students who are residents of Ontario
- Students who are either a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person with PPS documentation
- Students whose parents' combined total net income as reported on their 2011 tax returns was $160,000 or less
Two Ways to Apply:
- If you have applied for OSAP for the 2012-2013 Academic Year, you will automatically be considered for the Ontario Tuition Grant - no further action required
- ONLY if you did not apply for OSAP for the 2012-2013 Academic Year, you must apply online for the OTG at: Ontario.ca/30off and follow the steps below
What Information You Need if you are completing the online OTG Application:
- Your Social Insurance Number
- Your parent(s)' Social Insurance Number(s)
- Your parent(s)' 2011 Canadian Income Tax Return that shows the income in line 150 (total net income)
How to Complete the online OTG Application:
- Visit the OTG website at: Ontario.ca/30off
- Log in as a "New User" and register for an Ontario Access Number (OAN). If you already have an OAN, you do not need to set up a new one
- Fill out and submit the OTG application form
- Print the Declaration and Signature pages for student and parents
- Submit your signature pages to the Ryerson Financial Assistance Office
