How to determine if your Loan Issue Date is available for pick-up:

  • Loan Documents are printed once a week (on Sundays) by the Ministry in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
  • After printing, the loans are shipped to Ryerson’s SFA office.  These should be ready for pick up on the following Monday (approximately 1.5-2 weeks later).
  • Please see example below:

Step TwoPick Up

Winter 2012 OSAP funding will be available for pick-up from the Student Financial Assistance office (POD 59) on a first-come, first-serve basis, beginning on Monday, February 6th, 2012.

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PICK UP YOUR OSAP FUNDING:

·         You must be enrolled in all your courses prior to collecting your OSAP funds.  Should your class enrolment not match your OSAP file, your OSAP file will be reassessed and a delay in receiving your funding may occur.

·         You must present your Social Insurance Card and a valid Canadian government-issued photo ID (i.e. Driver's Licence, Passport), in order to collect your OSAP funding.  If the Canadian government-issued photo ID has an expiration date, it cannot be used if the expiration date has passed.  *Please note that the names on the photo ID must match the name on the SIN card.

·         Have available a void cheque or your banking information (bank account number, bank name, address, phone number, bank transit number) required for processing of your OSAP funding.

·         If applicable, you must have a copy of your signed Probationary Contract.  *Changes to your OSAP application may be made which can lead to a decrease and/or delay in obtaining your OSAP funding.

·         If you have made any recent payments towards your tuition, bring your proof of payment to your appointment.

·         If you are picking up your first instalment of funding, you will be asked to confirm the income amounts that you entered on your OSAP application.  Prior to your appointment, please review your application online and make note if there are any income amounts that you would like to update.  Your new income amounts can be entered on your Confirmation of Enrolment at the time of your appointment.

To avoid the possibility of having your OSAP documents returned to the Ministry, please pick them up as soon as possible.

60% of your OSAP funding would have been released in the Fall Term.
40% (the balance) of your OSAP funding will be released in the Winter Term.

*If your study period is the Winter term only, 60% will be released in January and the remaining 40% will be released half way through the Winter term.

OSAP funds cannot be released after the end of your academic year, or if you reduce your course load to less than 60% of a full course load (40% for students with a permanent disability).

Step ThreeNegotiate Loan to the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC)

You will be required to take your OSAP funding certificate to a designated Canada Post Office for processing. Check canlearn.ca for a list of available locations.

You MUST have your valid Canadian government-issued photo ID and Social Insurance Number card with you, as well as a void cheque, direct deposit slip, and/or the banking information (Bank name, address, transit number, bank ID, and account number).

Step FourWhen do I get my funding?

After you process your loan document it takes approximately 5-10 business days for your OSAP funding to be deposited into your bank account.

If tuition fees have been deducted from your OSAP funds, it will take up to 3 weeks for your funding to be deposited to your student fees account. Ryerson does not consider your fees paid until the money is deposited into your RAMSS account.
