Reporting Changes to OSAP

When you applied for OSAP, you provided personal and financial information. You are required to update your OSAP information by promptly notifying the Student Financial Assistance Office should any of the following occur:

  • you add or drop courses
  • you change your program of study
  • you withdraw from your program of study
  • you stop attending classes
  • your or your parent(s)’ or your spouse’s circumstances change while you are in school.

These changes may reduce or increase the amount of assistance you have received or are entitled to receive.

Forms will soon be available for printing.

Course Change

(adding/dropping courses, changing program, withdrawing)
When you add or drop courses, your OSAP will be reassessed and your funding may increase or decrease by an amount equal to the value of the tuition fees and book costs associated with those courses.

If you drop below 60% (below 40% for students with permanent disabilities), you will become ineligible for OSAP and your entitlement will be prorated based on the period of time you were a full time student.

Income Change

When you update your income information, your OSAP will be reassessed and your funding may increase or decrease, depending on the change. We recommend that you update your income information as soon as you become aware of a change, as OSAP will verify your income information with Canada Revenue Agency at the end of the year.

Marital Status Change If your status has changed to: Married/Common Law Status or Separated/Divorced, please contact the Student Financial Assistance Office for further details on what supporting documentation to submit. Change your marital status information on this form opens new window
Family Circumstances Change If you need to declare the Birth of a child under your OSAP application, please contact the Student Financial Assistance Office for further details on what supporting documentation to submit. OSAP website
Study at Another Institution

If you are enrolled in a Ryerson program, and are planning to take additional courses through a different institution, the costs of those courses may be added to your OSAP assessment at Ryerson.
