How to apply Undergraduate students

Ryerson invites you to apply for transfer credits using two different application methods depending on where you completed your previous studies.

Which application method should I use? (if applicable, you must select Option 1)
  1. Self-service application on RAMSS (my.ryerson.ca):
    • Available for most Canadian colleges and universities - if your previous institution is set up for self-service application you must apply on RAMSS;
    • Detailed course outlines may be required so begin collecting this material to facilitate a smoother application process.
  2. Manual application upload:
    • For all international institutions and a few Canadian institutions, that are not set up for self-service application;
    • Detailed course outlines must be uploaded for each course when applying for transfer credit.
Option 1. Self-service application on RAMSS (my.ryerson.ca)
  • After receiving an Offer of Admission, login to RAMSS to submit a Transfer Credit Application.
  • Detailed application instructions are available on RAMSS Support.
  • Enter all applicable course information from your previous post-secondary institution(s).
  • When applying on RAMSS, if you are unable to the find course code using the look-up feature, please email tcredits@ryerson.ca with the course code, title and the name of your previous institution. After receiving confirmation that these courses have been added, you can return to the application to submit your remaining courses.
  • Instant unofficial results will show upon submitting your application.
  • Unofficial results are based on previously established equivalencies contained in the Ryerson Transfer Credit Database.  If a course has not yet been evaluated for transfer credit equivalency (no established equivalency exists), you will need to submit a detailed course outline once your application is processed.
  • You will find your official transfer credit results posted to your Transfer Credit Report on RAMSS within 5 business days – after May 1 for newly admitted students beginning their studies in the upcoming fall term.
  • You will receive an acknowledgment email sent to your Ryerson account (or to the email address on file) confirming your applications have been processed.  The email will also include a link to upload course outlines that may be required.
Option 2. Manual application upload
  • After accepting your offer of admission, submit an Application and upload a detailed PDF course outline for each applicable course.
    • Academic calendar course descriptions are not acceptable in place of a detailed course outline.
  • You will receive an acknowledgment email sent to your Ryerson account (or to the email address on file) confirming your applications have been received.
  • You may receive an incomplete application email requesting you to submit a more recent transcript or a more detailed course outline.
  • Verified applications will be displayed on your Transfer Credit Report on RAMSS within 5 business days – after May 1 for newly admitted students beginning their studies in the upcoming fall term.
  • Credit decisions will be  posted to your Transfer Credit Report over the next eight weeks as faculty evaluations are completed.
Other important information
  • Courses that require faculty assessment require the submission of detailed course outlines and decisions may take up to eight weeks.
  • You may apply for credits using completed or in-progress (IP) courses. Applications for credits using IP courses or for which official final grades cannot be confirmed, will not be displayed on the Transfer Credit Report and you will not be able to upload course outlines.  They will appear when official transcripts confirming grades are received.
  • Your Offer of Admission outlines possible transfer credit restrictions and sometimes transfer credits are granted on your Offer of Admission; you do not need to apply for these courses.  These credits will be posted to your Transfer Credit Report after May 1.
  • Courses completed over 10 years ago require individual faculty evaluation.  Wait until your applications are processed and use the link in your acknowledgment email to upload the original course outline for evaluation.  These courses may have the prefix ‘OLD’ added to the course code on your Transfer Credit Report.
  • You may receive an incomplete application email requesting you to submit a more recent transcripts or a more detailed course outline.
Do I need to submit a transcript from my previous institution?
  • You are not required to re-submit transcripts submitted at the time of admission as these will be on file. However, you will require information from your transcript (course codes and final grades) to complete your applications.
  • You can apply using completed or In-Progress courses to receive unofficial results.
  • Application processing requires confirmation of official final grade – you will receive an incomplete application notification via email if a recent transcript is required.
  • Please follow up if you application is not processed within two weeks of submitting a recent transcript.

Please note: Courses completed at another institution after you are enrolled in a Ryerson program, must be formally approved on a Letter of Permission (LOP) prior to enrolment.
