Leslie Yaffa, BA in Sociology (York University), MSW (Wilfrid Laurier University), RSW, EdD in Children, Youth and Human Services (Nova Southeastern University) Dr. Yaffa completed her doctoral work in the USA where she taught and evaluated services provided to children and adolescents in Kingston, Jamaica. Leslie has spent 20 years in the field of human and social services and has held clinical social work positions in hospital, community and agency settings. She has worked with children, youth and adults in clinical, academic and community development settings. Currently, she works in private practice and is a full-time faculty member at the University of New England in Maine in the online MSW program. She continues also to teach face to face in the MSW program at the University of Toronto and in the CYC program at Ryerson University.



Leslie's research is devoted to an anti-oppressive framework and looks at program development in Jamaica.

  • A New Paradigm: An Integration of Online Social Work and International Travel was published in the Journal of Online Education ( JOE) out of New York University.  
  • A recent accepted contribution to  Teaching Social Work with Digital Technology-  Yaffa, L. (accepted, expected 2016).
