Online Surveying
To run an online survey, you can either use Google Form or Opinio, depending on the purpose of your survey/poll, the sensitivity of the information you are collecting, and the complexity of the survey (e.g. branching/piping, limiting number of responses).
Please refer to the Ryerson's Research Ethics and Information and Privacy guidelines before you deploy your survey.
For quick simple surveys where no sensitive information is collected, no complicated branching required, and when respondents are allowed to respond more than once, you can use a Google Form from Google Apps at Ryerson.
Everyone with a my.ryerson account has access to using Google Form.
Login to the my.ryerson.ca and click on the "Apps" tab, and select "Google Drive". For details on using Google Form, please refer to the Google Form Help Page.
For other types of surveys, we have a limited number of user accounts on Ryerson instance of Opinio. We have a limited number of user accounts for Opinio online survey. This web tool is comparable with surveymonkey web survey, with the advantage of having it housed locally in Ryerson.
Currently the tool is available for research conducted by faculty, staff, and graduate students. We recommend researchers to acquire an approval from the Research Ethics prior to using this tool.
To get access to the online survey tool and for more information, please contact us.
