Blogs, Wikis, and Social Media

Before embarking onto using any of these tools, the DMP offers consultation with faculty members to discuss if and how the tools can enhance students learning in achieving the learning objectives.

Below is a list of tools some considered as Social Media (a.k.a. Web 2.0) tools and have started using in their courses.

If you are interested in exploring any of these tools, the DMP will happily assist.

Terminology

The term Web 2.0 suggests that this is a newer version than the Web. The main characteristic of Web 2.0 is the notion of participating in the Web media, where users can generate and share content easily - unlike the first generation Web where users can only consume the content.

A Web 2.0 tool typically has a social media aspect, therefore, we often find Web 2.0 and Social Media terms are presented side by side.
The DMP provides support for faculty in using Web 2.0/Social Media tool in their teaching.

Past Events on Social Media and Web 2.0
