Field Education

Alison Gaston, Student Testimonial

Field Education and the ECE Student

"Every year as an ECE student you will have the opportunity to do a field placement. This allowed me to put into practice the information and theory I had gathered in class.

Over the past four years, I had the opportunity to work at an Early Learning Centre in Toronto; I worked with an Early Interventionist in York Region helping children with special needs and their families; and in my third year placement, I worked on a research project. I had an opportunity to go to Japan for an international placement for my fourth placement.

Each of these placements provided me the chance to experience different areas of work that we can enter after graduation. I met exceptional mentors and made wonderful contacts at all of my placements. It is just one aspect of the Early Childhood Education program that is unique to Ryerson University."
