Field Education

Samantha Woolnough, Student Testimonial
Field Education and the ECE Student
Every year in the ECS program, I was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at various sites throughout Toronto. This allowed me not only to put my theory and knowledge into practice, but also helped to establish my professional network in the ECS field.

In my first year I was placed in the School of Early Childhood Studies/ Early Learning Centre in the infant room. In my second year I was placed in a school that had a focus on one-on-one learning for children with special needs. In my third year I was placed at a community agency for children with special needs. My final placement was shadowing an early interventionist in north Toronto.  For this placement I had my own caseload and worked directly with children who had special needs and their families.

All these opportunities fuelled my passion for the field. The placement component of the ECS program does not fall short in helping you accomplish your goals.
