Career Opportunities

The program prepares you for a range of careers with children from birth to age eight, as well as with their families.

Alumni pursue opportunities in professional roles that include registered early childhood educator, parent/caregiver educator, hospital child-life specialist, children's programming consultant, or resource teacher for children with disabilities.  These and other early childhood professional roles are carried out in settings that include early childhood settings, social agencies, family resource centres, hospitals, government ministries and agencies, and child care centres.

An ideal undergraduate program for those who want to teach, many of our alumni apply to a one-year Bachelor of Education program at a faculty of education to become a certified teacher.

There are many related career opportunities - for example, in children's product development and educational media/theatre programming - as well as post-graduate study opportunities in early childhood studies, child psychology, speech therapy and occupational therapy
