My Child's Safety and Security

Thank you for your interest in the safety and security of your daughter/son here at Ryerson University.

Security and Emergency Services offers an array of services and programs which include but are not limited to Walk Safe Escorts, Emergency Calling System, Emergency Medical Response, Safety Talks or Plans, and Self Defence Classes. For more information see Security Services and Programs.

Some common concerns that parents may have are:

How can parents get a hold of their son/daughter in the event of a personal emergency? Security will do their best to locate a student on campus to pass on a message. It will be the student who chooses to return the call.

Where can my son/daughter get help if they are hurt on campus? Security and Emergency Services has specially trained emergency medical responders on staff who can attend to hurt individuals and/or assist external emergency service responders in a timely fashion.

How can my son/daughter learn more about what security offers? Parents can advise their son/daughter to check out our website or visit our office at 111 Bond Street (in between Gould Street and Dundas Street on the east side).  Very often security is invited to orientation events in the first and second week of the fall semester where students can learn about our services.  Parents are encouraged to attend.

What should my son/daughter do if they are being harassed or bullied by someone at school?  Harassment and bullying is not tolerated here at Ryerson University.  Security works closely with many departments who offer support for students and staff.  Security can assist a student experiencing this type of behaviour, in finding a support resource.
