Dr. Dennis Denisoff is Professor of English, Associate of the Gender and Sexuality Research Network at the University of Birmingham, and Co-Director of Ryerson's Centre for Digital Humanities. He is a founder and principal investigator of the Yellow Nineties Online, a digital research environment for the study of avant-garde periodical culture in the fin de siecle, and a founder and principal investigator of the Children's Literatue Archive, a research environment for traditional and digital archiving in the field of children's literature and culture.
Dennis was a Ryerson Research Chair from 2004-2008 and Visiting Professor at the University of Exeter in 2007. He has served as Research Associate, Office of the Dean of Arts (2006-20008), Chair of the Department of English (2009-2012), and Senator (2011-12). He received the President's Award from the Nineteenth Century Studies Association in 2010 and the Sarwan Sahota Distinguished Scholar Award -- Ryerson's most prestigous research award -- in 2011. He has served as President of the Victorian Studies Association, Vice-President of the Nineteenth-Century Studies Association, Executive Council member of the North American Victorian Studies Association, and Executive member of the Northeast Modern Language Association.
The author and editor of eleven books, Dennis specializes in aestheticism and decadence; paganism; gender and sexuality studies; and digital humanities. He is co-editor of the scholarly journal Nineteenth Century Studies and the creative writing journal White Wall Review. He is serving or has served on the edtiorial boards of RAVON: Romanticism and Victorianism on the Net; Victorian Review; Essays on Canadian Writing; and torquere: Journal of the Canadian Gay and Lesbian Studies Association.
