Nima Naghibi is Interim Chair and Associate Professor of English at Ryerson University. She teaches and researches in the areas of postcolonial and gender studies and is interested in questions of human rights in her teaching and her scholarship. Naghibi’s research and publications to date have concentrated on representations of Muslim/Middle Eastern women in Western discourses. She is the author of Rethinking Global Sisterhood: Western Feminism and Iran (Minnesota Press, 2007). Her essays have appeared in English Studies in Canada, Interventions: an International Journal of Postcolonial Studies; Radical History Review, and Biography: an Interdisciplinary Quarterly. She is currently completing a monograph, work that has been supported by a SSHRC Standard Research Grant, on diasporic Iranian women's life narratives with a particular focus on theories of trauma, memory, and nostalgia.
