Dr. Andrew O'Malley completed a B.A. (Hons) at McGill University, an MA at the University of Toronto, and a PhD in at the University of Alberta.   His monograph The Making of the Modern Child: Children's Literature and Childhood in the Late Eighteenth Century (Routledge 2003) was short-listed for both the biennial Harvey Darton Award for best recent work of scholarship in the field of children's literature, and the biennial IRSCL (International Research Society for Children's Literature) Book Award.  He has published articles in English Studies in Canada; British Journal for Eighteenth-Century Studies; The Lion and the Unicorn; and Children's Literature
