Accomodations for the 2011/2012 School Year
During the 2011/2012 school year, many students will require accommodation for their religious observance. Ryerson’s Religious, Spiritual and Accommodation Policy require us to accommodate students to the greatest extent possible. During the school year, there will be several religious observations where students may not attend classes as a result of the religious observation listed below. Instructors are encouraged to bear this in mind when preparing plans for their courses this year
- Winter 2012 Semester Religious Observations
- Spring and Summer 2011 Semester Religious Observations
- Fall 2011 Semester Religious Observations
Action recommended to Faculty: Faculty should make all materials (i.e. course lecture notes) and course curriculums available to all students for a two week period. Blackboard may be an appropriate avenue to put this information on line.
Action required by Students: Students are advised to notify their Professor/Instructor as soon as possible to arrange for any missed classroom work, assignments and/or tests due to religious observance.
Ryerson University is committed to respecting the religious beliefs and practices of all members of the University community. A list of religious observances follows and please note that the list is not exhaustive. It will be updated frequently as members of the community identify other dates of observances. The list is provided as a planning tool and a guide to assist members of the Ryerson community in planning courses or personal scheduling.
A date on the list does not necessarily preclude scheduling a test or examination on that date. It does signal that there may be individuals in a class who may require accommodation.
Students for whom these dates pose a conflict should download a religious observance accommodation form that is available at Register's website:www.ryerson.ca/rr and contact their course instructor immediately.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy and a reasonable compilation of dates, the Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Services (DHPS) would appreciate being advised of any errors or omissions of the religious observances dates.
Please feel free to contact DHPS at (416) 979-5349 or dhps@ryerson.ca
