Scholarships and Awards
A wide range of special awards, scholarships, bursaries and programs are available to prospective, current, and/or international exchange students. These include:

President’s National Entrance Scholarships
($10,000 per year, renewable. Four to six awarded annually)
The President’s National Entrance Scholarships have been established to recognize students who best demonstrate the following three criteria: academic excellence; demonstrated potential through leadership activities; and capacity for original thought and/or creative ability.
Terence Grier Entrance Scholarship
(full tuition for one year (non-renewable))
The Terence Grier Entrance Scholarship honours the achievements of Ryerson’s President, from 1988-1995, in particular his leadership through a period of profound change at Ryerson, culminating in the acquisition of university status at the institution.
Eligible entering students are automatically considered for entrance scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $4,000. These scholarships are open to current Grade 12 U/M secondary school applicants.
The programs listed below offer additional scholarships, sponsored by the private sector, to entering students. Some of these awards require applications.

The Dean’s List is selected by their school or academic department in recognition of the following criteria: the candidate must carry an average unit load of over 4.0 units for the Fall and Winter terms workload in the qualifying year; achieve a minimum of 3.75 GPA (including electives); have all passing grades and a Clear academic standing (they cannnot have received any Disciplinary Notices (DN) at Ryerson. Students registered in part-time programs must normally complete the equivalent of a full year of study in order to be eligible; and the criteria for part-time students will be used for students registered with the Access Center who are enrolled for full-time programs.

The Faculty of Communication & Design offers many awards of excellence and bursaries for students with financial need. These are typically valued at $1000 or more for students continuing in Ryerson degree programs in the Faculty of Communication & Design. Student International Exchange Bursary
The Dean of the Faculty awards several travel bursaries to FCAD exchange students each year.

The Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards
Program - Two students from each Ryerson program are selected by their school or academic department in recognition of their significant extra-curricular contribution.
University - Up to 10 students who have contributed to the wider university community are chosen by the university.
Brian Segal Award
(valued at $1,000.00)
During his 8 year tenure as President from 1980-1988, Dr. Brian Segal established a legacy of leadership and academic vision underscored by a special interest and belief in the quality of student life. Of particular interest to him was the roll that extracurricular activities focusing on cultural pursuits as exemplified by the Oakham House Societies and Programs as well as athletics, play in the totality of individual development. To honour this legacy and to provide a lasting tribute to his contribution, Ryerson has established The Brian Segal Award.
Ryerson University Gold Medal Award
(valued at $1,000.00)
The Ryerson University Gold Medals are the University’s highest awards, awarded to students with outstanding academic achievement combined with outstanding involvement with the University, their profession, and/or the community. The award is open to both full-time and part-time graduating students.
