FCS faculty members are exemplary teachers who integrate their research and field experiences into their teaching. This commitment to engaging students and expanding their knowledge base adds even more value to a Ryerson education.
FCS is home to an active and multidisciplinary scholarly, research and creative (SRC) community. Faculty members are recipients of external and internal grants and prestigious awards that reflect their research and academic achievements.
Our faculty members and graduate students participate in leading-edge projects that reflect Ryerson’s urban character and academic strengths. The initiatives address diverse issues, including societal problems, the relationship between the built and natural environment, and how to meet the distinct needs of individuals, marginalized groups and whole communities.
The diversity of FCS SRC activity is reflected in our research centres, chairs and projects that each explore how to improve the well-being of the broader community.
FCS’ Learning and Teaching initiatives include a newly appointed Faculty Teaching Chair that will provide leadership in promoting teaching excellence as well as a Teaching and Learning Student Research Award that will encourage undergraduate students to engage in a research project focused on a question they have that has emerged from a learning experience within the context of their academic program.
