The Optional Specialization in Management Sciences (OSMS) is designed to provide undergraduate students with a solid foundation in management sciences by offering a number of specialized courses. The courses are tailored to better prepare undergraduate students for careers in engineering or applied science management, or for graduate studies in management-related specializations, i.e., MBA. Strong demand for engineering and science graduates with acquired management training and skills makes the OSMS an excellent tool for enhancing job prospects after graduation.
Undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science or in the Faculty of Science, with the exception of Industrial Engineering and Architectural Science, are eligible to enroll in the Optional Specialization in Management Sciences as long as they maintain a clear academic standing. Students must successfully complete all six courses within the OSMS with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 before graduation to earn this special designation on their degrees. In order to complete the courses without delaying graduation, students are encouraged to enroll in first year.
Registration for the OSMS takes place in February of each year in the First-Year and Common Engineering Office (FYCEO) in ENG 377. As space is limited, students are encouraged to register early to reserve spots. Fees will be assessed depending on the number of selected courses for the term. Fees schedule.
The Pierre Lassonde Optional Specialization in Management Sciences Awards, valued at $2,000 each, are awarded to exceptional students enrolled in the Optional Specialization in Management Sciences. Award application information.
