Dr. Said Easa of the Department of Civil Engineering recently received the 2010 Award of Academic Merit from the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) in recognition of his long-term contribution to the advancement of the academic field and to the development of tomorrow's transportation leaders. An independent panel of judges representing the air, rail, marine, and road modes made the selection.

Canada's Associate Deputy Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Anita Biguzs presented the award to Dr. Easa during TAC's Annual Banquet in Halifax on September 29. Also present in his capacity as vice-president of TAC was Ray Mantha, Executive Director of Provincial Highways Management, Ministry of Transportation of Ontario.

Established in 2007, the Award of Academic Merit is part of TAC's Canadian Transportation Awards Program (CTAP). Supported by Transport Canada, this program recognizes leadership, excellence and achievement in all modes and segments of the transport sector.
