FEAS hosts Canada-Brazil smart grid matchmaking session

Canada-Brazil smart grid matchmaking mission participants

The Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science hosted a Canada-Brazil smart grid matchmaking session on December 5-6.

Part of ISTP Canada’s smart grid matchmaking mission, the two-day session brought together industry, academic and government leaders from across Canada and Brazil with the aim of fostering long-term partnerships to accelerate the development and adoption of novel smart grid applications. At the conclusion of the event, Canadian and Brazilian researchers agreed to enhance mobility between universities for students and researchers, and to collaborate on new research projects.

ISTP Canada is a not-for-profit organization with the primary objective of strengthening Canada’s science and technology, business-to-business, and economic, trade and political relations. It provides support for collaborative R&D projects, partnership development activities and technology matchmaking to help accelerate innovation, attract foreign investment and stimulate downstream trade. ISTP Canada has indicated that the matchmaking mission generated more than 300 initial matches among Canadian, Brazilian and Chilean companies.
