Dr. Mohamed Attalla named recipient of the 2011 Ontario Professional Engineers Engineering Medal for Management

Dr. Mohamed Attalla, adjunct professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, has been named as the recipient for the 2011 Ontario Professional Engineers Engineering Medal for Management.

Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) awards this medal annually to a member whose innovative management practice has contributed substantially to the overall excellence of engineering achievement, in terms of managing and directing engineering projects or enterprises.

Dr. Attalla has been an adjunct professor on the Department of Civil Engineering since 2005, as well as a member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. He has taught many graduate courses and has been proactively involved with undergraduate capstone design projects. He is also the senior manager of construction and project management within the strategic building and renewal division at the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Dr. Attalla leads a team of 500 professionals to service the needs of more than 600 TDSB schools and other buildings. He is internationally recognized in the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors for his extensive experience and knowledge in the subjects of management, leadership and strategic planning.

Dr. Attalla will receive the award at an awards gala on November 12.
