The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) has announced architectural science professor Taymoore Balbaa as the first recipient of its Young Architect Award.

Intended to inspire other young architects to become licensed and to strive for excellence in their work, the Young Architect Award recognizes an architect under age 35 for excellence in design, leadership and service to the profession.

In selecting Professor Balbaa, the jury commented that it recognized “his impressive early achievements in the profession,” and added that, “the future of this young architect will also most certainly prove interesting to watch.”
