The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science is pleased to participate in the Ciência sem Fronteiras/Science Without Borders program. Launched in July 2011 primarily by the Brazilian government, the program aims to send more than 100,000 Brazilian students to study internationally in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The program is administered by Brazil’s federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).
Students wishing to participate in the Science Without Borders program must submit applications directly to Ciência sem Fronteiras, and should select Ryerson University as one of their top three institution choices.
Once students have been selected to receive a Science Without Borders scholarship for studies in Canada, the process for admission into individual universities begins. Ciência sem Fronteiras will send approved applications for students wishing to study at Ryerson University to the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), who in turn, liaises with Ryerson. Acceptance to study at Ryerson is at Ryerson’s sole discretion.
The Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science offers Science Without Borders participants a wide range of engineering and architectural science programs in which to study. All our undergraduate programs, with the exception of Undeclared Engineering, are available to SWB students.
To be considered for the Science Without Borders program, students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
In addition to the requirements above, students must agree to return to Brazil to complete their degrees, and to remain in Brazil for double the number of months spent in Canada.
Applicants to engineering programs must meet Ryerson’s minimum English requirement: a TOEFL score of 560 paper-based or 83 internet-based, a MELAB score of 85, an IELTS score of 6.5 or a CAEL score of 60. Applicants to the architectural science program must meet Ryerson’s minimum English requirement: a TOEFL score of 580 paper-based or 92 internet-based, a MELAB score of 85, an IELTS score of 6.5 or a CAEL score of 60.
Students who do not meet the minimum English requirement may opt to complete the Ryerson University Foundation Program (RUFP). This program is designed for international students who are academically qualified for admission to Ryerson University, but who do not meet the minimum English Proficiency Requirements.
