Hungry for Change

In early 2008, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) approached the CSFS for a partnership in one of its projects. Common Threads is the name of OSSTF's international solidarity program which offers members the opportunity to travel abroad and conduct research resulting in the creation of new progressive curriculum on critical issues. The theme for 2008 was Food and Food Security.

In August 2008, the OSSTF team of eight teachers travelled with Cecilia Rocha (CSFS Director) for two weeks of visits to food security programs in Brazil. The team, in partnership with CSFS and FoodShare, has prepared curriculum material which will be distributed to all public high schools in Ontario.

The launch of this fourth installment of Common Threads resources entitled, Hungry for Change will be launched on World Food Day, October 16, 2009, at FoodShare.
