PHASE 1 - INITIALIZING AND COMMITTING RESOURCES The first phase of organizing FORUM includes the initialization of the project and committing resources. The FORUM chair page describes the FORUM chair's job including definition and interpretation of the position, criteria that chairs should require, goals of the FORUM chair and the organizational structure encompassing the FORUM chair. Establishing a Home Base talks about and lists the office equipment that is required before any planning can begin. Creating a theme in the initializing phase is also key because it will create a focus for FORUM to be planned. Getting an Overall Picture of the Conference, prior to the planning of FORUM, will allow the FORUM chair to grasp a good understanding of the project scope and milestone deadlines. The final topic area in Phase 1 includes securing FORUM committee coordinators and FORUM committee members. This is very important to do at this stage as planning will not progress very quickly without these resources.
