English as a Second / Additional Language (ESL / EAL)            Placement Test

Please note that the ESL/EAL program at Ryerson University's G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is offered only at the intermediate and advanced levels (minimum proficiency level approximately equivalent to CLB 6, iBT 79-80.)

Please note that the results of this test can be used only for placement in one of the ESL/EAL courses at Ryerson. The result will not indicate what your English proficiency level is in a manner that will be useful for applying to other institutions; neither will it indicate to an employer what your current level of English is. You will not get a score or an official document.

NOTE:   Please take the test using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox browsers only.

If any further information is needed we will contact you.

Please print the eMail you will receive with your test results.  Please take a copy of your test results to Registration & Enrolment Services to register in the course.  Submit a copy of your test results to your instructor at the first class of your course.

Please allow approximately 30 minutes to complete the test.  You may not attempt the test more than once due to cookie protocols established between your computer and the Ryerson University server. Please complete the entire test in one sitting.
