What is Google Drive?
Google Drive is an online file storage, synchronization and collaboration service available to all students, faculty, and staff by default as part of our Google Apps for Education offering. Google Drive contains Google Docs, which is a suite of productivity applications, that offer real-time, collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more.
What you get:* If you are using Google Docs proprietary applications, you use no space towards your quota at all.
- 5 GB of “cloud storage” (stored online) to upload your files*
- The capability to store, manage and access your files anywhere: on the web, on your hard drive, or on the go.
- The ability to share your files, and allows for real-time collaboration and version controlling
Weekly Drop-In Session
- Location: LIB-B99
Starting January 9, you can come for drop-in session every Wednesday between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM in the CCS area (LIB-B99). You can bring your question to the drop-in session, and CCS staff will provide with a one-on-one assistance. No registration required. If this time does not work with you, please contact the CCS Help Desk (ext. 6806 or help@ryerson.ca) to arrange for a different time.
Departmental Training Sessions
We are offering to arrange sessions for groups and departments who would like to see how using Google Drive could be used for their department. We will customize the training content to meet your department’s needs. Note that Google Drive is not intended to replace any current file sharing your department currently has in place. It is simply a tool offered through Ryerson’s Google Apps for Education that can be utilized if desired. We think once you see an overview of this product, you may realize the potential of Google Drive as a powerful and convenient way for groups to collaborate. Please contact the CCS Help Desk (ext. 6806 or help@ryerson.ca) to arrange the departmental training session.
