Building Science (MBSc/MASc)
The submission deadline for international applicants is June 1. Applications received after this date will not be considered. Domestic applicants will be considered until the program is full.
Admissions
The Master of Building Science program targets students who are interested in deepening their knowledge and skills in the areas of building performance, measurement, building renewal, indoor environment quality and comfort, construction processes, testing/modelling, forensic investigation, and innovation, and how they are relevant to sustainable design. The program has a strong interdisciplinary character and is open to candidates from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds, such as architecture, building science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, landscape architecture, and construction. International students are encouraged to apply. Students’ exposure to colleagues with different professional and cultural backgrounds is an essential ingredient of the program.
The admission requirements for the program, are as follows:
- Graduated from a four year approved undergraduate degree from a recognized institution, with a minimum of a B standing or equivalent over all courses in the final two years of the program.
- A dossier of relevant work which demonstrates a capacity to succeed in the program – this can include reports, technical assignments, detail design work and other material that indicates your level of technical competence. The work submitted does not have to be building science related but can be other relevant work that shows your ability to participate in the program.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- A statement of interest.
- Curriculum vitae.
- For applicants whose language of instruction during their undergraduate studies was a language other than English, a test of English language proficiency is required.
- Official transcripts for all relevant postsecondary education.
