Admission Information


 

Master's Program Minimum Academic Requirements

Applicants for admission to the Master's degree program must have completed a four-year bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, or other related Engineering or Applied Science discipline, from a recognized university. 

Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.33/4.33 (B+) in the last two years of study for the MASc program. 

Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00/4.33 (B) in the last two years of study for the MEng program.

 

PhD Program Minimum Academic Requirements

A demonstrated capacity to undertake advanced research though the completion of a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or other related Engineering or Applied Science field, from a recognized university. 

Minimum Master's cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.33/4.33 (B+).

 

 

English Language Requirements

Students whose previous language of instruction was not English must submit proof of proficiency in the English language. A list of the standard tests accepted by Ryerson Graduate Admissions and score requirements can be found at www.ryerson.ca/graduate/admissions.

Program-Specific Documents Required for Admission

 

  • Statement of Interest

Your Statement of Interest should be no more than 500-1000 words and should include the following:

Indicate in the top left-hand corner of the page a maximum of THREE (3) Chemical Engineering faculty with whom you might wish to work with as supervisor if you are applying to the PhD, MASc or MEng project-based option program. Please also indicate if you are willing to work with a faculty member in the program other than the one(s) listed. 

Your reasons for studying at the graduate level in Chemical Engineering.

The research interest(s) you may wish to pursue in a Master's research project, thesis or doctoral dissertation.

How your previous studies and experience have prepared you for the program.

How this degree program relates to your career objectives.

 

  • Curriculum Vitae

A curriculum vitae including all of your applicable work experience, education, publications and any Scholarships, Fellowships, Grants and/or Financial Awards you currently hold or have applied for to support your graduate studies. 

 

  • Letters of Recommendation (2)

Two letters of reference are required, at least one of which should be from a former professor.

 

  • Area of Specialization

Please indicate your area of specialization interest (Water/Wastewater and Food Treatment Technologies or Polymer and Process Engineering) by using the Area of Specialization Form (.pdf) available through the Material Checklist page.
