Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program (OGS)

Since 1975, Ontario, in partnership with Ontario’s publicly-assisted universities, has encouraged excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels through the awarding of Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS). OGS awards are merit-based scholarships available to students in all disciplines of academic study. The OGS program is funded by the Province of Ontario and by Ontario universities. The Province of Ontario contributes two-thirds of the value of the award while Ryerson University provides one-third.

Value

$15,000 per year

Application Procedure

Starting with the 2013-2014 OGS competition, The Yeates School of Graduate Studies will be responsible for awarding the Ontario Graduate Scholarships allotted to Ryerson University.  The application process is as follows:

New Students

All applicants will be assessed for basic eligibility.  If the applicant is deemed eligible they will receive two forms to complete; a basic information page, which details the applicant's history of awards and current OSAP status and a Notice, Declaration and Consent page.  If new applicants wish to be considered they will need to return these forms to their program administrator by the date specified by the program.  The completed forms and the prospective student's application for admission will form the OGS application.  Applicants will normally be notified of the funding they will receive at the time that they receive their offer of admission.  The forms for new/prospective students are available here.

Returning Students

All eligible returning students must submit a simple application which will include: basic information, which will include history of federal and provincial funding and current OSAP status, a Notice, Declaration and Consent Page, a plan of study (for master's students) or research proposal (doctoral students) and two academic references.  The application form for returning students is available here.  The referee form for returning students' application is available here.

Adjudication

Graduate programs will be responsible for the adjudication of applications and will forward their recommendations to the Yeates School of Graduate Studies for final assessment.

Note: International applicants will follow the same application process.  As there are only a small number of international OGS awards available, the adjudication of international applicants will be made by the YSGS Scholarship and Awards Committee.
