Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

The SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships and Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral and Master’s Scholarships aim to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies in social sciences and humanities.

Deadline for Application
Applications are to be submitted to your undergraduate or graduate program Administrator by, October 19th, 2012

Eligibility

Masters Competition:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
• 1st class (A- or equivalent average) in EACH of the last 2 years of study
• Must be applying for support of first graduate degree and have completed no more than 12 months of study
• Must not have previously received a master's level award from SSRHC, NSERC or CIHR

Doctoral Competition:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
• Must be applying for support of first PhD
• Must be pursuing doctoral studies
• Must not have previously received a doctoral level award from SSHRC, NSERC or CIHR

Application Process
The application is only available online at the SSHRC web-site, please consult for details. SSHRC offers a Resource Centre and a link on Twitter to assist with your questions and concerns. Once you have submitted your application, it will be checked for eligibility and completeness and forwarded to the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. An internal SSHRC committee will decide on which applications to forward to the national competition.

Results
In February The Yeates School of Graduate Studies will send you a decision letter to inform you of whether or not your application was forwarded to the National competition. SSHRC usually announces their final results to applicants in May.
