In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School at Ryerson, the Masters in Media Production program requires the following materials:

A Resume

This should note your career achievements, including any prior production and/or media management experience.

A Portfolio

This can be in written (paper submission) or audio/video/multimedia form (CD or DVD). The committee will read your written work, examine several minutes of your video or audio submission, navigate your web design, or otherwise inspect your portfolio as appropriate. If the submission is of long duration, we encourage you to provide edited excerpts in addition to any full-length works. Along with your media submission, please enclose a statement describing the process underlying the development of the submission itself. If your work has been professionally critiqued or presented in a public forum, please include this in your portfolio.

A Written Statement About Your Project Proposal

Please answer the following questions in your written statement:
1. Outline the media production or major research paper you would like to do in the Masters in Media Production program, and why you would like to produce it. This is your proposal abstract and should take about 100 to 150 words to describe.
2. Explain how this project is innovative (why it is something that has not been done before), and how it demonstrates excellence in media production.
3. Name two mentors or media outlets that would be interested in or benefit from your work (industrial/academic/cultural). Explain why. Describe how it will inform current academic research in your area of interest, or contribute to the body of knowledge within the industry or cultural studies that you are intending to advance. Please include references to back up your explanation.
4. When your production is completed, what tangible research and/or benefits from its execution can be ‘given back’ to the industry or the academic domain? In what way will it be new and innovative research, or explore a current issue in the Canadian media production industry?
5. Explain how will you benefit by completing this project and how it will help you develop your career.
