Nutrition Communication (MHSc)
Curriculum goals are:
- To provide students with an advanced understanding of the context, theory and practice of evidence-based nutrition and emerging communication strategies.
- To develop a critical awareness of the scientific process and outcomes, and their impact on both public policy and individual health behaviours.
- To understand the psychosocial construction of health, nutrition and food and how these processes are best used for effective nutrition communication and advocacy.
- To provide a curriculum that emphasizes the interdependence of individual and societal factors, the relative values of risk and benefit, and the complexities of interpersonal, computer and mass communication mediated strategies to communicate nutrition and food issues.
- To create a collegial and exciting environment, enhance personal and professional development, and to facilitate communication expertise.
- To engage with interdisciplinary researchers and practitioners to advance the practice of nutrition communication
