The Yeates School of Graduate Studies is pleased to have partnered with a variety of departments on and off campus to present the Graduate Professional Skills Development initiative.
This program has been designed to allow students to graduate from Ryerson not only with their discipline specific education, but also a broad set of professional skills that will help facilitate their transition to, and succeed in their chosen career path.
Eligibility: Open to any registered Ryerson graduate student. Voluntary participation.
How it works
YSGS has identified workshops and sessions offered by our Program Partners that fall under the following three professional skills categories:
Communication & Personal Effectiveness
Teaching & Presentation Skills
Information Management
Participants will need to complete a total of 7 units from these professional skills categories in order to complete the program. *Note that no more than 4 units can be applied from any one specific Program Partner.
2 units from Communication &Personal Effectiveness 2 units from Teaching and Presentation Skills 2 units from Information Management 1 unit as an elective from any of the above categories |

Recognition
Upon completion of the program, participants will achieve YSGS Professional Skills Recognition of Completion. A hard copy this document will be issued by YSGS to successful participants for their records.
Cost
There is no fee associated with registering and participating in this program.
Timelines
The program is designed such that participants must complete the program within TWO years of registration.
Registration
Step 1: Complete the online registration form.
Step 2: You will be issued a Registration ID number and a Program Passport to track and record your progress.
Step 3. Choose and register for the workshops listed under the current offerings page (note that this page is updated regularly as new workshops are added by our Program Partners).
Step 4. Once you have attended the workshop, you will record it in your passport AND have the instructor of that workshop sign your passport.
Step 5: Upon completion of the 7 units from the appropriate categories submit your completed passport to YSGS.
Step 6: YSGS will verify your passport with the program partners and you will achieve a YSGS Recognition of Completion.
