Communication and personal effectiveness covers an ability to communicate both in oral and written form effectively and concisely. This also includes a variety of interpersonal skills including listening, assertiveness, influence, persuasion, empathy, and diplomacy and non-verbal communication. Personal effectiveness also promotes self-awareness to assist in evaluating strengths and weaknesses, self-reflection, and setting appropriate personal and professional goals. Teaching & Presentation Skills (2 units)
This area covers classroom teaching along with planning effective tutorials, group facilitation and any situation where the need to explain complex concepts related to a discipline is required. It also is meant to assist in the ability to provide clear and explicit instructions facilitating others’ understanding and learning. Information Management (2 units)
Information management covers research, organizational, and project management skills and allows for the ability to manage the environment in which research is being done for the purpose of seeking, understanding, and adapting new knowledge.
