The essential question: Why should research be conducted with children?
May I make a suggestion? Every child has the right to be heard including that of ‘an 8-year old child’s relationship with nature’. In our fast-paced society, it is a privilege to personally experience the process of social change and empowerment through the value of education and qualitative research.
This poster presentation began as a project in CS8930 Social Research with Children. Travel grants from the Faculty of Community Services and the Early Childhood Studies Program gave me the opportunity to present at the International Institute for Qualitative Methodology: Thinking Qualitatively 2008 conference held at the University of Alberta
Quotable quote: "We can no longer talk about children. We have to talk with children and listen, using the many languages available, and recognizing that listening is an active, emotional and interpretive process." P. Moss
"It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to...The feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important that the feeling for pictures." Vincent Van Gogh |
