"By definition, progress means change. This is not always comfortable. It may challenge our assumptions, and the way we are used to doing and seeing things. It asks us to have faith in the larger picture, the eventual results, and each other. We need energy to deal with it, and perspective, and sometimes just a sense of humour."

-Sheldon Levy, Presidents Newsletter to the Ryerson Community, Spring 2007

The purpose of The Change Management guide is to provide leaders of change with a framework of the concepts and theories of change management. It also provides tips and tools to assist in a successful and rewarding organizational change initiative. The guide focuses on two streams:

  • The process or change model, using the John Kotter's model
  • The transition or emotional impact when embarking on a change effort, using the William Bridges model

As leaders of change you have a critical role to play in ensuring that the change effort is successful. The Human Resources Department can provide guidance and support to you and your team in understanding the change process. Our Organizational & Employee Effectiveness (OEE) unit can provide you with the diagnostics tools, programs, consultation and advice that youll need in order to plan, implement and sustain a change effort.
