The Staff Star Award recognizes the outstanding efforts and achievements of a Ryerson OPSEU staff member. Tell us about the extraordinary efforts of an OPSEU member by submitting your nomination.

 

 

 

2012 OPSEU Staff Star Recipient: Jeff Edmunds

Jeff Edmunds, School of Social Work student affairs co-ordinator, is the 2012 OPSEU Staff Star Award winner. Edmunds has been at the university for 30 years and says he still looks forward to coming to work every day.

OPSEU Staff gathered in POD 250 on November 20, 2012 to recognize the valuable contribution Ryerson OPSEU members. President Sheldon Levy, James McKay, and Kella Loschiavo presented the OPSEU Staff Star Award to Jeff Edmunds from the School of Social Work. Jeff stood proud with his wife, colleagues, and Director, Lisa Barnoff. The OPSEU recognition event featured a keynote presentation from Dr. Marilyn Hadad, an Associate Professor from the Department of Psychology. Diane Winiarz from Financial Services shared information about the Financial Services Certificate programs.

Nomination Guidelines

The purpose of the OPSEU Staff Star Award is to recognize and honour the outstanding efforts of an OPSEU staff member employed at Ryerson University. Colleagues, supervisors or other University employees may nominate any full-time OPSEU staff member, who has been employed by Ryerson for a minimum of two years. Please download the nomination form and respond to the questions in a separate document.

Whether you submit a nomination as an individual or as part of a group, the nomination package must not exceed a total of three pages. This includes any supporting documentation such as letters of reference or recognition. Please respond to each criteria question individually, as the Selection Panel will be awarding a score to each question to assist them in selecting the winner.

Include specific reasons as to why you feel this person should be chosen. Use specific examples, describe a situation, or tell a story that demonstrates each of the qualities outlined in the criteria.

Nomination Criteria

  1. Exceptional Service: How has the candidate provided exceptional service in his/her unit or department?
  2. Ideal Employee: How is the candidate an ideal employee?
  3. Leadership Skills and Ability: How does the candidate show superior leadership skills? What are their special abilities? How are they a role model for others?
  4. Commitment to Ryerson: How does the candidate "go above and beyond" to help others or benefit the University? How does the candidate contribute to the Ryerson community?

OPSEU Staff Recognition Event

Join us as we recognize the valuable contribution OPSEU Ryerson members provide to the academic and administrative life of the university. We will also be announcing the winner of the OPSEU Staff Star Award.

Creating a Satisfying Life

This year's keynote is presented by Dr. Marilyn Hadad, an Associate Professor from the Department of Psychology.  

Based on her new book The Satisfying Life: Positive Psychology and Personal Growth, Dr. Marilyn Hadad discusses how we can obtain more life success and satisfaction for ourselves and also enhance the lives of others.
