Dear Faculty and Staff,
In March of last year, we invited you to participate in the university-wide People First Survey to collect information that would help improve your work experience. The results were released to the community in October, and since then the Ryerson Employee Survey Committee has been working on a strategy to explore areas of concern and to identify actions to take.
Results
If you are interested in revisiting the university-wide results, please visit the People First Survey section of the HR website. Log in with your my.ryerson ID to access the detailed results for each question.
Issues to Address
The focus will initially be on the top three areas of concern identified by you that impact employee engagement:
- Opportunities for advancement and development
- Opportunities to contribute
- Recognition at the university level
Next Steps
The next step will be to conduct focus groups to explore these three issues so we can create targeted initiatives that will make a genuine impact. We have discussed with Ryerson experts in social research and focus group design to determine the specifics of the methodology, and we will be contracting with an external organization to arrange and facilitate the focus groups to protect participant confidentiality. The committee will seek approval from Ryerson's Research Ethics Board for this phase of the project as we did for the survey design and administration.
We hope to get the focus groups started in late spring this year.
