New Benefit! Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
“Critical to our success is that we prioritize our employees by establishing Ryerson as a high engagement, diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace—a best in class employer. What does this mean? A place we’d never want to leave and where the most talented and in demand want to work, teach and conduct research.” -Putting People First, blog post by Julia Hanigsberg, Vice President, Administration & Finance An important responsibility of being a best in class employer is to create a positive, safe work environment where we put people first. In Human Resources we promote this through our programs and services, and by delivering benefits coverage to support your work/life harmony. Human Resources is proud to announce that an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is now available to all Ryerson employees with group benefit coverage and their dependents. There is no cost to you whatsoever – the EAP is 100% employer paid because we recognize this is a valuable investment in the well-being and engagement of our employees. The EAP can provide short to medium term assistance with: - Personal well-being
- Relationships & family
- Workplace challenges
- Addictions
- Child and elder care
- Legal clarity
- Financial clarity
- Nutrition
- Health
Our EAP is provided through Shepell.fgi and is completely secure and confidential. Shepell.fgi can only disclose to Ryerson statistics about use of services, and never the identity of clients or the content of consultations. Human Resources and your supervisor will only know if you’ve used the EAP if you choose to tell them. Services are provided over the phone, in person, online, and through self-help tools. When contacting Shepell.fgi, you or your dependent will be asked to provide the employee’s name and date of birth to verify eligibility. They may ask for additional demographic information such as gender and martial status to enable us to better understand employee needs. Answering demographic questions is optional.
